Getting Started

The first step is completing our intake request form on our Get Started page. You can also reach us directly at Danielle@Modern-Mentality.com or call (781) 803-7757. Once we receive your information, our team will reach out to coordinate your initial appointment.

We combine a full multidisciplinary care team - psychiatric nurse practitioners, licensed clinical social workers, and licensed mental health counselors - with advanced diagnostic technology most practices don't offer. This includes Creyos neurocognitive testing, TOVA ADHD assessments, GeneSight genetic testing, and NeuroStar TMS therapy.

The result: our hospitalization rate is under 1.5%, compared to the 8-12% industry average. We don't guess - we test, measure, and treat with precision.

We treat adolescents and adults. Our team has specialized experience working with teens navigating school, identity, and social pressures, as well as adults managing ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other conditions across all life stages.

Yes. We have dedicated experience working with first responders and military veterans who face unique mental health challenges including PTSD, trauma, sleep disruption, and high-stress occupational demands. We understand the culture and provide a confidential, judgment-free environment.

Services & Testing

We use a multi-layered approach that goes beyond standard questionnaires. Our ADHD evaluation combines clinical interview, TOVA (Test of Variables of Attention) for objective attention measurement, and Creyos neurocognitive testing to map cognitive strengths and weaknesses. This data-driven approach eliminates subjective bias and gives us a clear, objective picture of what's happening.

The TOVA test takes approximately 22 minutes. Creyos testing takes about 30-45 minutes. Results are reviewed and interpreted by your provider during the same visit or a follow-up session.

GeneSight analyzes how your unique genetic makeup may affect your response to psychiatric medications. Instead of trial-and-error prescribing, we use your genetic data to identify which medications are most likely to work for your biology - and which ones to avoid. It's a simple cheek swab with results in about a week.

Both. Our multidisciplinary team includes PMHNPs who specialize in medication management and LICSWs/LMHCs who provide individual and couples therapy. Many patients benefit from a combined approach, and having everything under one roof means your providers communicate and coordinate seamlessly.

Insurance & Billing

We accept the majority of private insurance plans in Massachusetts and New Hampshire:

Blue Cross Blue Shield Cigna United Healthcare Aetna Harvard Pilgrim Tufts Point32 Health Self-Pay

Insurance acceptance may vary by provider. Please contact us to verify your specific plan.

Out-of-network plans are those for which our providers do not have an insurance contract. Patients with out-of-network insurance are welcome to pay for services privately. If you have out-of-network benefits, we can provide an itemized and coded Superbill upon request so you can submit for reimbursement from your plan.

Self-pay rates vary by service type and provider. Please contact us at Danielle@Modern-Mentality.com or (781) 803-7757 for current self-pay pricing. We're happy to discuss options and can help coordinate out-of-network benefits if applicable.

Appointments

Initial intake appointments typically run 50-70 minutes. This is a comprehensive evaluation where your provider gets to know your history, symptoms, goals, and develops a personalized treatment plan.

Follow-up medication management appointments range from approximately 15 to 45 minutes, depending on your needs. Psychotherapy sessions are typically 30-55 minutes. Neurocognitive testing appointments require about 90 minutes for testing plus 30-45 minutes for interpretation and discussion.

Yes. We offer telehealth appointments for patients throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Many of our services - including medication management, therapy, and follow-up visits - can be conducted via secure video. Some services like neurocognitive testing and TMS therapy require in-person visits.

In-person hours vary by provider but typically occur during daytime hours with limited evening availability. Telehealth appointments may offer additional scheduling flexibility. Contact us to find availability that works for your schedule.

TMS Therapy

NeuroStar TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive treatment for depression. It uses targeted magnetic pulses to stimulate the brain regions responsible for mood regulation - specifically the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. Unlike medication, TMS works directly at the source without systemic side effects like weight gain, sexual dysfunction, or sedation.

TMS is typically recommended for patients with depression who have not achieved adequate relief from antidepressant medications. It's also appropriate for patients who experience intolerable side effects from medications. During a consultation, your provider will evaluate your history and determine if TMS is right for you.

Many insurance plans cover TMS therapy when specific criteria are met, typically after trying and not responding adequately to antidepressant medications. Our team handles prior authorization and works directly with your insurance to maximize coverage. Contact us to verify your specific benefits.

During treatment, you'll sit comfortably in a chair while the NeuroStar device delivers magnetic pulses to a targeted area of your head. Most patients describe the sensation as a tapping or clicking feeling. Sessions typically last about 19 minutes. You remain awake and alert throughout, and you can drive yourself home and resume normal activities immediately afterward. A standard course of treatment is 36 sessions over approximately 7-9 weeks.
