More Than Just Distraction
ADHD affects roughly 4 percent of adults, and most of them were never evaluated as children, or were evaluated badly. It is not a failure of willpower. It is a neurodevelopmental difference in how the brain regulates attention, executive function and impulse control.
Many capable adults spend years building workarounds that mask their symptoms: elaborate systems, late nights, constant catch-up. It works until the demands outpace the workarounds, and the result is underperformance, burnout, anxiety and frustration. We do not rely on a brief conversation and a checklist. Our evaluations combine objective, performance-based testing with a structured clinical assessment, and they deliberately check for the things that masquerade as ADHD, like anxiety, depression and sleep problems, and the things that ride along with it.

Creyos (formerly Cambridge Brain Sciences) is a digital assessment that measures attention, working memory, processing speed and cognitive flexibility against age-matched norms. You can complete it from home, and repeating it over time shows whether treatment is working.
What is the TOVA test?
The Test of Variables of Attention is an FDA-cleared continuous performance test of sustained attention, response consistency and impulse control. It is performance-based, so it cannot be skewed by self-report, and it can be repeated to measure treatment response.
What is GeneSight pharmacogenetic testing?
A cheek-swab test showing how your genetics may affect your response to medications commonly used for ADHD, depression and anxiety. The results inform prescribing. Most insurance plans cover it.
Do you treat children and adolescents?
Yes, with select clinicians. Alyssa Plaud Mainelli sees patients from age 10, and our team sees adolescents and adults. Parents and guardians can complete the intake for a minor, and our intake team matches your family with the right clinician.
How long does an evaluation take?
Usually one to two appointments. Creyos can often be completed from home and TOVA is done in the office. Your provider then brings everything together and reviews the results with you in the debrief.
What insurance do you accept?
We are in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Harvard Pilgrim and Tufts Health Plan for evaluation and treatment visits, with self-pay and out-of-network options. The testing package is self-pay. We verify your benefits before your first visit.
