James Kennedy is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and the founder of Modern Mentality. A graduate of Boston College and recipient of the Clinical Excellence in Psychiatric Nursing award, he brings over 15 years of experience diagnosing and treating the full spectrum of psychiatric illness, with ADHD as his primary area of expertise and depression and anxiety as his strongest areas of focus behind that.
His clinical training spans some of the most respected institutions in the country, including McLean Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he developed deep expertise in complex psychiatric presentations and evidence-based treatment.
Recognizing a growing demand for specialized ADHD care, James pursued advanced certification as an ADHD Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP), enabling him to offer gold-standard assessment and management of ADHD across the lifespan. His diagnostic approach combines TOVA computerized attention testing, Creyos neurocognitive assessment, structured clinical interviews, and collateral history review to build a complete picture before treatment begins. Drawing from years as an Inpatient Attending Nurse Practitioner at Bournewood Hospital, he built Modern Mentality around faster access, better follow-up, and clinicians who measure what matters.
