Why two platforms? We believe in redundancy for critical systems. Spruce handles your communication because it is built for responsive, real-time clinical messaging. MYIO houses your clinical record because Valant is our EHR. And if either platform ever experiences an outage, the other keeps your care uninterrupted. When we say we take your care seriously, we mean the infrastructure too.

Setting Up Your Accounts

New patients will receive invitations to both platforms. Here is what to expect.

MYIO Setup

After your intake form is processed, you will receive an email invitation from MYIO to create your account. Click the link, set your username and password, and complete any pending intake forms, consent documents, and questionnaires before your first appointment. Check your spam folder if the invitation does not arrive within 24 hours.

Spruce Setup

You will receive a text or email from Spruce inviting you to connect with Modern Mentality. Download the Spruce app from the App Store or Google Play, create your account, and you are connected. You can also access Spruce via web browser at spruce.care/modernmentality.

Frequently Asked

Which platform should I use to message my provider?

Use Spruce for all day-to-day communication including medication refill requests, appointment questions, and clinical messages. MYIO is primarily for completing questionnaires, reviewing records, and managing billing.

I did not receive my MYIO portal invitation. What do I do?

Check your spam or junk folder first. If you still cannot find it, call our office at (781) 803-7757 or message us on Spruce and our team will resend the invitation.

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

For MYIO, click "Forgot Password" on the login page and follow the prompts. For Spruce, use the password reset option in the app. If you need additional help with either platform, contact our office.

Is Spruce really HIPAA-compliant?

Yes. Spruce Health is a HIPAA-compliant communication platform built specifically for healthcare. All messages, phone calls, and video sessions are encrypted. It is used by thousands of medical practices nationwide.

Can I use these platforms for urgent issues?

Neither platform is monitored in real time for emergencies. If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency, call 911, 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline), or go to your nearest emergency room. For urgent but non-emergency clinical questions, Spruce is the fastest way to reach our team during business hours.

What if my telehealth appointment has technical issues?

This is exactly why we maintain Spruce as a backup. If Valant's telehealth has an outage or you experience connection problems, your provider can seamlessly switch to a Spruce video call so your appointment continues without rescheduling.

Can I request medication refills through Spruce?

Yes. Send a secure message to your provider through Spruce requesting a refill. Please allow 48 to 72 business hours for refill requests to be processed. Plan ahead so you do not run out of medication.
